Richard Wagner & Mathilde
A 1906 volume of letters and diary entries relating to the relationship between Richard Wagner, the famous composer, and Agnes Mathilde Wesendonck, a German poet and author. Some of Wesendonck’s verses were the basis of Wagner’s “Wesendonck Lieder,” and it was said that Wagner was infatuated with her — even to the extent that Wagner’s wife blamed Mathilde for the break-up of their marriage. This volume is bound in full grey cloth with dark blue ornamentation and gilt titling.
A one-of-a-kind book from the Boutique.
