An 1877 green cloth and gilt edition of “Woman on the American Frontier,” by William Worthington Fowler, a Wall Street trader and author best known for his work “Ten Years in Wall Street.” This work is an important piece of women’s history. From the text: “Woman must be allowed her share of the honor. … We are to speak of her now as soldier and laborer, a heroine and comforter in a particular set of dangers and difficulties such as are met with in our American wilderness.”
